Between 11 July and end August 2025, just a few quiet weeks in winter, our medical first responders have attended a variety of incidents.
- 4 Motor vehicle accidents
- 3 Seizure & collapses
- 1 Severe head pain
- 1 Fish hook in lip
- 2 Ladies in active labour
- Swallowing of a foreign body (R2 coin)
- Suspected heart attack
- Bad fall with suspected internal bleeding
- Hypertensive crisis
- Fall and injured ankle
- Choking, suspected infection and dehydration
- Stabbing with severe injury to eyeball
- Shack fire
Plus, first aid stations were manned by the responders at the following events.
- Rotary 67minutes of dancing
- Klipfontein Rugby Match
- Bushwillow School Charity Bowls Day
- Kenton Primary School Rugby Matches
Excluding all the bandaging, sprains and strains, splints and
TLC at rugby matches – 28 patients were helped.
Our amazing responders are very “thin on the ground” right now and are concerned about the looming tourist boom around Christmas time.
If you are a trained medic and can give of your time, we’d love to hear from you – OR if you wish to be trained as a responder and are a member of the local community, we’d love to hear from you TOO. You’ll need to be over 18, with fluent English, a matric and transport.
Please contact care@coastalkindness.org.za if you think you can HELP!
