Nick had a huge heart and brilliant mind. He cared very deeply about Kenton and its people.

In Memoriam
Nicholas John Robert Wagg
(22 March 1954 – 17 July 2024)

Many will remember Nick for his magical Musical Moments on Kenton365 which amused, entertained and delighted us for years. And others for his courage in taking on the Quiz Master role so late in his illness.

Perhaps less known is that he was a founding member, and Director and Treasurer, of Coastal Kindness. We, his fellow directors, Robbie, Simon, Jennie and Doug, found in him not only a colleague but also a friend. We will remember him as the quintessential gentleman, in every sense of the word: kind and courteous, considerate and generous.

A very special man, with an incredibly wide range of interests and knowledge. A family man, so proud of the strong and beautiful women in his life: wife, Sarah Jane, and daughters, Nichola, India and Olivia.

No-one who knew him could have been unaware of his rapier-sharp wit, of his dry, droll (and sometimes wicked) sense of humour. It was not unknown for board meetings to be punctuated by gales of laughter at his timely and occasionally outrageous quips.

His musical knowledge was wide-ranging and he was equally at home with the English language, which he played like a virtuoso musician, articulate and eloquent, and always cutting direct to the heart of any matter.

It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with Nick over the last few years. This very private person with his huge heart and brilliant mind cared very deeply about Kenton and its people.

A Kenton legend has been lost and we are all the poorer for his passing.

A light which burned so brightly has been extinguished but not in our hearts and memories.

Requiescat in pace, Nick.
