On Sunday morning a 79 year old Ekuphumleni male resident suffered a serious, potentially life- threatening, asthma attack. Two Coastal Kindness Medical First Responders were quickly on the scene and did what they could to preserve life while a state ambulance was summoned to this emergency situation.
The state ambulance arrived two hours and 16 minutes later.
Emergency? What emergency?
The patient’s current status is unknown.
What’s that got to do with me, you might well ask.
What if it were your domestic, your nanny or your gardener? Would you pay for a private Gardmed ambulance? Or wait for a state ambulance?
More to the point, perhaps, do you have the luxury and comfort of medical aid? And so can call for a Gardmed ambulance?
Whatever the case, the fact remains that our Medical First Responders will almost certainly be first on the scene. They live locally and are always ready to scramble in an emergency.
They do, however, need a portable oxygen supply if they are to help save lives in just such an emergency as described above.
This costs money. Which means we are yet again asking our community to donate, this time towards the purchase of oxygen cylinders – to make Kenton and its surrounds a safer place for all.
